Making SNOW! 01/07/2010
Here in Ohio, we are getting lots of snow. The days are filled with being outside and then finding things to do inside. So today's ZANEY BRAINY fun tip: Make SNOW! Now, this is not the real thing. The idea here is to take some household items and have your kiddo create and have fun. YOU WILL NEED: Elmers liquid glue Shaving Cream (any kind) DIRECTIONS: Mix equal parts of glue and shaving cream. DIALOGUE: Talk about taking these two items. Make PREDICTIONS about what will change? Will the shaving cream look the same? Will it feel the same? Have your kiddo create an illustration that has a snow scene. The snow illustrations here are showing two different craft ideas: In the first one, kids made an outline of a snowman. Then tearing pattern paper in small pieces, they glued and filled in the outlines. (WORKING ON MOTOR SKILLS, which is great for your preschooler -first grader). Then, "paint" the mixture of glue and shaving cream on areas to make it look like it's snowing. Second, take about the seasons and how trees and our environment changes. Then using the mixture, on the WINTER season illustration make it snow...on the ground and tree. ![]() First craft: Pattern Paper Collage Snowman! ![]() Second craft: Seasons project |
